Summary

Ganesh Chandrasekaran is currently working for Samsung Electronics, Networks Business at HQ-South Korea. He completed his PhD at 5G Innovation Centre, University of Surrey. He was also the Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Mentor for StartupSurrey, UK. He completed his Master's degree in Telecommunication Engineering from University College London (UCL) and was previously working for organisations like Riverbed Technologies and The Bank of New York Mellon (iNautix Technologies) etc.

What I Do ?

I’m currently working on designing and architecting E2E Orchestrator product that can provide seamless Slicing and Automation to entire Samsung Network platform (5G-RAN, 5G-Core, Edge, MEC and EMS) in an E2E fashion. In addition, I also work on several Standards requirement analysis (such as 3GPP, ETSI). I have previously worked on Softwarization (SDN) network project to enable Stateful Data Plane- involving development with controller(ONOS/ODL/RLU) and Switch(OVS) using multi-table OpenFlow protocol at Huawei-ECIT.

    Samsung Electronics, Network Business, R&D Division Headquarter, Position: Staff Engineer. Role: Network Cloud Division product Design and Development.
    1, Samsung 5G E2E-O Network Slice Manager product: o Designing and architecting E2E Orchestrator product that can provide seamless Slicing and Automation to entire Samsung Network platform in an E2E fashion. Involved in: Architecture Design, Review quality of software development, Framework decision, Operator’s RFI response, Standards requirement analysis (3GPP, ETSI), Mentoring Freshers & Interns.
    2, Samsung Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP) product: o Research and analysis performed on various components of Open Source-ONAP, then span- up a design for Samsung’s own customized version of ONAP. o Won best performer award for my open source contribution from VP of Network Division. o A new project proposal was made to Open Source ONAP community for instant zero-touch auto-configuration of data centre leaf-spine fabric using Samsung SDN controller.
    3, Samsung SDN product: o Researched on existing Samsung SDN to rethink the process of auto-configuring data centre legacy fabric to reduce time and feature development cycle using config-management tools.

    Service Delivery Platform project

    Design and Develop a solution that can be deployed on the SDP platform in order to simplify the orchestration of network service delivery. Technologies used: Golang, Micro-service, Docker, Nomad, Consul, Go-Micro, YANG, Sysrepo, Vault, Nexus, Java, VyOS, Github, Trello and Travis CI.

    Researcher at a Huawei technologies

    ECIT project, UK

    Design and develop Stateful OpenFlow multi-table data plane architecture for deployment within a OVS, SDN environment. Investigate network functions for proposed architectural applications such as Stateful firewall, NAT applications and attack defence. Analyse and configure the implementation of network solutions at the data plane (OVS/OpenFlow) using SDN controller (ODL/ONOS). Developed good understanding on NFV Orchestration and SDN controller development.
